Michael Reiken, Managing Director of Excel Power, began his own electrical business in 1993.
His early exposure to the industry through his father, who was also an electrician, cemented his desire to earn his own apprenticeship and invest a wealth of time into his education and training so he could become a certified electrician and tackle the challenges the industry faces.
Michael proudly holds a number of industry-leading accreditations and certifications.
He is a member of the Institute of Electrical Inspectors and is an active member of the Standards Australia committee, overseeing a number of safety and installation standards for renewable energy systems.
Michael is also a CEC Accredited Solar Installer and Fire Fighter.

Favourite project and why?
Our ongoing volunteer work in Timor. I have enjoyed being able to bring sustainable power sources to schools and hospitals who previously relied on less eco-friendly options. Seeing the difference to their lives through photo updates of the community and regular contact is highly rewarding.

It was great seeing the project through from start to finish - from the initial consultation, to identifying the products and services that we could provide that others couldn’t to complete the installation.

Favourite project and why?
A large residential solar system installation in Rangeville. The system was installed on a double-storey house and was spaced over 2 different roof spaces, which made for a challenging install. How we all worked as a team to get the system installed in good time made the end result even more rewarding.
