Severnlea, QLD Rural Fire Brigade Case Study
Location: Severnlea, QLD
Solution: Off-grid solar system and additional electrical work
Description:
Excel Power had previously worked with the Rural Fire Brigade to provide sustainable and reliable solar power at their other off-grid locations. The Severnlea site required a brand new off-grid solar setup as their old one didn’t have the capacity to power their current equipment such as truck chargers and lighting and it wasn’t expandable.
Solution & Delivery:
After working with the Rural Fire Brigade on a number of these projects, the team at Excel Power were quite familiar with what products to use and the capacity required for the site.
The team supplied, delivered and installed an off-grid solar system, including:
- 4 x LG Neon 2 365W Solar Panels
- 1 x Victron EasySolar 24/3000/70-50 Inverter
- 2 x PowerPlus Energy 4.0kW Lithium Batteries (6.4kW Usable @ 80% DOD)
- 1 x All-in-One Inverter / Battery Cabinet
- Panel racking
- Generator Inlet
Their system was designed for up to approx. 6kW/day PV, with 2 days autonomy from batteries.
This system also features remote monitoring capabilities, if a mobile signal is present, allowing the team to track their usage 24/7. The team received 25 years warranty on their LG panels, and 5 years warranty on their Victron inverter.
Outcome:
The team were very impressed with the additional energy capacity they received from their new solar system instead of having to connect directly to the grid. The addition of a convenient monitoring system and the option to connect a generator, in case of emergencies, were added bonus’.
Excel Power were also tasked with additional electrical work, including wiring extra LED light battens and powerpoints.
The entire job, from quote to completion, was turned around in just a few short weeks.
