History of the Excel group of companies.
1993: Started from humble beginnings from home as a partnership. Employees numbered 2. Our first major project was Glenfield Grange retirement village in Spring St. We also became accredited to install communication and data cabling.
1994: Completed stage one of Brownes Homes Retirement Village at Highfields. We started contracting EFTPOS services for ACG who have now become Hypercom, with CBA as their major bank. Excel Power continues this relationship today.
1995: Commenced contracting Cash Handling Equipment with Queensland based company Prefect Agencies. Excel Power continues to be a leader in this field. We also started work with Ray Archer at Olives Australia - Grantham Queensland which involved major power upgrades involving new hot houses.
1996: As work became more plentiful, through dedication, hard work and long hours we employed our first apprentice. Employees numbered 3. During the year we commenced contracting to Eastern Well Services, now Eastern Energy.
2004: We became accredited for Thermal Imaging and purchased our first Thermal Imaging Camera. During 2004 we started contracting to: Queensland Health, Ergon Energy, Origin Energy and Clifford Gardens Shopping Centre.
Arthur Carson started with us as a licensed electrician.
2005: During the year we moved into our shop at Hill St Shopping Centre, Toowoomba. We also started contracting with Ooh Media, installing signage.
2006: Michael Mc Cormack Started Employment as a mature age apprentice.
2007: In 2007 we purchased and moved into 5 Tointon St Toowoomba.
2008: Was a big year. Michael Reiken purchased the business outright, and we started Excel Solar with partner Terry Davis. Excel Solar specializes in the Sales, Design, Installation and Service of grid connected residential and commercial solar systems.
2009: Saw the completion of the lighting projects at Heritage Oval Toowoomba and Kuhls Rd Highfields for Toowoomba Regional Council.
2010: Purchased land to house our growing businesses. Excel Power and Excel Solar continue to be one of the most diverse electrical contractor operations in Queensland. Now with a staff of 18 and growing, our future has never looked brighter. We continue to operate with the same philosophies that we started with. They are: Efficiency, Prompt & Quality Service and Value for Money.
